Special Inspections and Construction Observations
-
Footing Excavations
We perform inspections of spread footing excavations during construction to ensure they are excavated into firm soils or bedrock per our recommendations.
-
Reinforcing and Concrete
Inspections of reinforcing steel (rebar), hold-downs and epoxy connections. We also perform concrete placement inspections and concrete testing to ensure the materials used are per the structural requirements of the project.
-
Fill Placement
When fills are constructed, we observe the bottom of the fill area, keyways and drainage for conformance with our recommendations. During placement we perform field density testing, compaction tests.
-
Shear Wall Nailing
We can perform shear wall nailing inspections when required.
-
Drilled Piers
We observe drilling operations during pier drilling to ensure pier embedment meets our geotechnical requirements.
-
Subsurface Drainage
We inspect subsurface drainage when they are installed on slopes, behind retaining walls, or for foundation cutoff drains.
Special inspection, construction observations and materials testing services may be required by the structural engineer, building code, or our team. Additionally, you as the client, or your contractor, can request these inspections even when not mandated, to ensure materials are properly documented and installed according to the project plans.
